Let the games begin
Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:57PM Friday, 10 July 09
Team WOD #1 for Alamo CrossFit starts early. We will have Facebook updates on the Alamo CrossFit FaceBook page and frequent photo updates also on Facebook. Being here in Cali is cool for a number of reasons...1. The Games!...2. I actually grew up just 15 miles from Aromas in the town of Salinas, CA (where I am at right now)...and 3. it's like...really COOL here. Like jacket weather cool.
What an exciting weekend and no, I won't bullship y'all and say how just being here for the experience is enough...frack no...Team ACF came here to win. Even my kids are stoked to see the games.
Check Facebook for updates but in the meantime, click HERE for today's home-town!

The remainder of team Alamo CrossFit leaves today for the games. I am not even personally participating but I have butterflies. It's kinda exciting.
Here's the deal-io for Day 1,Friday July 10th:
There will be three workouts for every team on Friday, July 10, 2009.
General Affiliate Cup Rules
1. Each workout will be performed by two men and two women from the team.
2. If the team signed up more than the four athletes, they can assign a different set of two men and two women for each workout.
3. The movement standards are typical HQ unless otherwise stated.
4. Each team will be ranked according to their time or score relative to the other teams for that workout. Their final score for the workout will be equal to their rank.
5. The five teams with the lowest score after all three workouts will compete on Sunday in the final workout.
6. Teams will benefit from strategies that consider the relative strengths of their athletes, particularly in terms of the work/rest demands of different positions in the workouts.
ACF has been assigned a 'number' and heat. We are up in heat number one at 930am pacific time on Friday.

Parkour
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:15PM Wednesday, 8 July 09
We will be hosting a Texas Parkour workshop on July 19th from noon-2:30pm. Not sure what Parkour is? Then check out the video HERE. Parkour and CrossFit are sister spirits in that we both teach body awareness through physical activity. The Parkour workshop will teach basic movements like landing, rolls and basic vaults/jumping in a controlled environment...right here in our gym. Ages for this event are 13 on up...so yes...your kids can participate and have a blast too!
The Texas Parkour founder, Matthew Willis and his Parkour coaches will be bringing this incredible, 2 1/2 hour workshop straight into our own backyard.
Don't miss this one folks.
